Climate Label work continues
In 2014, significant work was undertaken to develop an energy label for appliances where performance and energy efficiency are significantly affected by climate.
The current focus is on products such as space conditioners and water heaters that account for approximately 60% of average household energy use.
Climate labels are now mandatory in the EU for air conditioners, and will apply to all space heaters and water heaters from next year.
Development of the E3 climate label is still underway, and includes further opportunities for stakeholder consultation before potential adoption through Regulation Impact Statements.
